Recycled polyester at scale!

Major announcement! We introduce recycled polyester in our Beirholm Collection

Introducing recycled polyester into the Beirholm Collection

We have made the decision to introduce recycled polyester into the majority of the Beirholm Collection of performance textiles. Per default. To make it a standard in the laundry market.

This decision has been made for 5 reasons:

1. to upgrade and future-proof our existing collection and to provide our laundry partners with more market-fit sustainability arguments towards their hotel, restaurant, hospital, and care home customers

2. to introduce more sustainable raw materials into our product assortment (we estimate the decision to propel our preferred materials sourcing from 39% to more than 70% over the next 3 years)

3. to stay ahead of potential legislation and push for more circular textiles based on recycled materials

4. to lower the CO2e emissions for our textiles and therefore also the scope 3 emissions of our laundry customers related to their textile purchase (our analysis, prepared in collaboration with Bureau Veritas, shows that recycled polyester emits 60% less CO2e emissions per kilo compared to virgin polyester)

5. to upgrade our BeirTex® textiles to a whole new level - combing documented laundry performance with an even more sustainable raw materials blend

Recycled polyester aligns with Beirholm's sustainability philosophy

The decision aligns with our sustainability philosophy - that sustainability should become mainstream and that it should be holistic. Hence, to make recycled polyester the easy, mainstream choice, we do not only launch a narrow line of products with recycled polyester. We launch the upgrade across the majority of our bed-, bath-, and table product categories. Per default. To make it the easy decision for our laundry partners.

With the introduction of recycled polyester, laundry customers will also enjoy an even more holistically sustainable textile investment. With the Beirholm Collection already certified according to EU Ecolabel, Green Button, Oeko-Tex® Made in Green, and Oeko-Tex® 100 while supporting Better Cotton, exchanging virgin polyester with recycled polyester adds significantly to our ideal of holistic sustainability.

Performance maintained. Whiteness degree achieved

In terms of performance and longevity - our core DNA at Beirholm - we've managed to launch recycled polyester while maintaining both performance and longevity while also achieving the necessary degree of whiteness required for our range of white textiles.

Can you spot the difference? We can't. Left-hand-side is virgin polyester. Right-hand-side is recycled polyester.

Inter-organizational collaboration makes it possible

Behind the introduction of recycled polyester are years of research and development and investments the Beirholm R&D- and Strategic Sourcing teams as well as our inter-organizational R&D-team between of Beirholm and Sapphire Textile Mills Limited.
